Lancia 037 WRC — Group B Madness.
If today everyone wants a piece of the action, back then that wasn’t enough. You simply had to live the action yourself, even if it meant getting you killed.
Which happened a lot, sadly.
And now, something completely different.
For some, that is. Here’s some amazingly precise and agressive action from one of the most underrated cars in Group B, the Mazda RX-7. It wasn’t all Audis and Lancias, Mazda knew how to gather a crowd as well.
Ford Sierra RS Cosworth
This is what my mind keeps playing constantly throughout the day.
But don’t care about the words I say, just watch and listen very closely the car which may have been sent by God himself to scare just about every living creature away from this planet. If so, he didn’t plan ahead.
We loved it to bits.
Peugeot 205 T16 / Group B, at Rally de Portugal.
So much brute force, it hardly makes any sense on a still shot.
Rally de Portugal 1994 — Lousada Super Special
Most of you won’t understand the language, but this footage holds some very endearing moments to me. This was the first Rally I ever attended, I was 7 or 8 years old, and I remember finding this absolutely spectacular. I didn’t know the cars (nor the drivers), so it’s wonderful to re-live this moment 17 years later.
The first few minutes show Delecour’s and Biasion’s Ford Escort RS Cosworths.
Swedish Rally, 1981.
Not with pure racing sounds, but with pure early 80’s Swedish TV music.
Which will work just as fine, I guarantee.
