Ferguson P99 (1960)
In 1960, Ferguson Research wanted to show the world their new 4x4 system and saw a chance to do so in Grand Prix races. It was designed to have a 50:50 weight distribution and the engine at the front, which was a 4 cylinder 150cc Climax.
It was first raced in 1961 at the hands of (Sir) Stirling Moss, which won the Formula 1 Oulton Park. He later described it as the best F1 car he had ever raced.
As with all outstand achievements in Formula 1 history, 4x4 wheel systems were soon banned.
