Ayrton Senna (21 March 1960 – 1 May 1994)
18 years ago today, the world lost both a great man and a great driver.
Only ten years before that, Senna was only starting his career at the hands of Toleman-Hart, which was as dreadful as it could have been — and yet, good enough for Senna to shine and show the world “hey, I’m here”.
Today, 18 years later, I can still remember the panic of a 7 year old boy who saw one of his heroes die, and ever since thinks of some kind of worthy tribute to pay to an awesome, awesome driver.

Saloon Car Racing, 1984
Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Fittipaldi and many other F1 champions drive the Mercedes 190E in the inaugural race of Saloon Car Racing. Senna was a rookie at the time, and still managed to take 1st place away from the masters.
