Alfa Romeo 2600 SZ Zagato (1963)
Apparently this is the only 2600 SZ in Portugal, now owned by the PT Alfanord club. Only 105 were built (between 1963 and 1967) and the latest count only tells the whereabouts of 60 of them.
The 2600 was the last of the Alfa Romeos to have the straight-6 cylinder engine the brand had been using for years. This particular example was driven from Portugal to Italy (and then returned) last year with, guess what, no breakdowns whatsoever!
The SZ (Sprint Zagato) version was the most powerful version of the 2600 (with around 165bhp), thanks to some fine tuning to its triple Solex carbs.
It has a wonderful live presence this car. I’ll be following Alfanord close to make sure I can feel it again!
