I don’t have much experience with Saabs either, but yes, the 900 Turbo remains my favorite of them all.
When I was researching a bit more about them some time ago, I found great reports of the 900 reliability; it’s not uncommon to find some examples with very high mileage, which is always a good sign, although I read that the gearbox seems to be its Achilles’s heel.
If you find a well maintained one, I’m pretty sure it would work well as a daily car — although always be on the lookout, an old is an old car, things will happen :)
The 9000 is a completely different car. Its a decent car, but its way more conservative than the 900. Saab built the 9000 alongside Lancia and Fiat to save costs, and lost a bit of character down the road. They’re alright, I reckon I’d still be very happy with a 9000 Turbo as well, as reliability seems to be a faily decent point on these.
If you want a Saab and can get a Saab, please do!
And also, folks, please don’t ask questions anonymously as I can’t reply you directly. Only do so if you wish to call me very ugly and nasty names and prefer your identity hidden away.
